At the Rumpelstiltskin Thatching Company, based in South Leigh, Witney in Oxfordshire, we pride ourselves on being reputable and traditional British Thatchers with expertise in all the types of thatch, with a specialisation in traditional Oxfordshire Long straw. Working closely with the Conservation of Historic Thatch, our aim is to contribute to the preservation of historical thatching traditions and the picturesque landscape of Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. We source all our materials from within Britain and as locally as is possible. As well as using traditional Oxfordshire Long straw, we use genuine Norfolk Reed and Devonshire Combed Wheat Reed. Our work is produced to the highest quality and we also provide a service for applying for listed building consent. The Partnership was started by Master Thatchers, Matt Williams and Dave Bragg, who both served traditional four year apprenticeships and attended a two year college course to become City and Guilds NVQ qualified. As fully qualified Thatchers, Matt and Dave are now training their own apprentice Tom Cummins, who hopes to contribute to the future survival of the traditional techniques and the thatching trade. All at the Rumpelstiltskin Thatching Company are highly committed to providing an exemplary service and can be contacted for a free quotation and advice.
